| Maintaining good health is crucial to quality of life. Health screening is an important part of monitoring your body to ensure your well being. Screening for common diseases, or primary prevention, can help detect risk factors for developing disease in the future and pick up illnesses in their early phases before they are apparent.
The Hanover Medical Centre in Dublin conducts health screening suitable to your age, family history and past medical history.
Our health screening involves a full medical, which includes a full medical history and medical examination, followed by blood tests and a resting ECG.
Blood tests include:
- Fasting Lipids – checks for raised cholesterol
- Fasting Glucose – checks for diabetes
- FBC - checks for anaemia, immune function
- TFT – checks thyroid function
- Renal – checks kidney function
- LFT - checks liver function
Other blood tests may be done if indicated based on the individuals history and examination.
For women, we also conduct a breast examination and cervical smear, depending on age.
For men, we also conduct a testicular examination, prostate examination and prostate cancer (PSA) blood test, depending on age.
An STD test for sexual transmitted infections can be conducted at the same time if desired or indicated.
